Thermostats can be very confusing even for a pro!

A homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts was having an issue with his Heating system which he believed to be related to the thermostat.

Although after checking all connections I made sure that the thermostat was programmed to the client’s settings . This is important because thermostats come with a program already and if you don’t program it will default back to the manufacture program. This very too often creates confusion and discourages a homeowner trying to figure out issues with his or her system.

The blower cabinet door did not work properly

During my inspection I found out that pulling off the blower cabinet door did not work properly. The switch in the door wasn’t turning off the furnace the way it should.
So by jumping out the door switch we were able to prove that the broken switch was powering on and off the furnace on its own.

We were able to identify very quickly that the source of the problem

We then replaced the door switch.

We were able to identify very quickly that the source of the problem was the blower cabinet door and not the thermostat.
